This partnership represents more than just collaboration; it embodies our shared vision of empowering local farmers, enhancing food production, and building a resilient, self-reliant nation. As partners, we are excited to contribute our resources, expertise, and community-driven initiatives to ensure that every household in Sierra Leone can have access to nutritious, locally-grown food. Our vision is to build a world where Agriculture is seen as a back born to the development of a country and to represent farmers at both national and international through Advocacy, Consultations, Women’s Empowerment, Information and Training of Farmers.
To improve the level of Agricultural productivity and sustainability, and the quality of life of rural people and to ensure national security, To promote sustainable agricultural practices for both private, Commercial producers and consumers through Education, Infrastructure development, and liaison with government agencies and nongovernmental organizations to strengthen markets and protect the environment.
In Sierra Leone, agriculture is more than just a livelihood—it is a lifeline. And at the heart of this vital sector are women, who make up over 60% of the agricultural workforce. Yet, for decades, they have faced limited access to land, credit, training, and markets. To unlock the full potential of the nation’s food system, empowering women farmers is not just a necessity—it’s a game changer.
At the forefront of this mission, initiatives like ADAP (Advocacy and Development for Agricultural Produce – Sierra Leone) are working tirelessly to bridge the gender gap in agriculture. By providing women with access to farmland, modern tools, financial services, and agribusiness training, these efforts are helping rural women transition from subsistence farming to thriving, income-generating agricultural enterprises.
Key pillars of empowerment include:
Access to Land and Inputs: Supporting policies and programs that prioritize land rights and input subsidies for women.
Training and Capacity Building: Offering tailored agricultural education, literacy programs, and leadership development.
Entrepreneurship and Value Addition: Helping women move up the value chain into agro-processing, packaging, and marketing.
Cooperatives and Networks: Strengthening women-led farmer groups for collective bargaining power and knowledge-sharing.
Gender Equity in Policy: Advocating for inclusive agricultural policies that protect and promote women’s participation.By investing in women farmers, we are not just feeding families—we are growing businesses, strengthening communities, and sowing the seeds for a more equitable and food-secure Sierra Leone.
Empowered women grow stronger nations. Let’s cultivate their potential.
